Present: Chet Bowles, Rich Dufresne, Jonathan Shomody
Call to order by Chet Bowles at 4:19 pm.
This meeting is to set the 2024 tax rate.
Bowles explained that the Board is required to set the tax rate each year. 2024 is a revaluation year, which is required by law to be done every 5 years. The tax rate is made up of 4 parts – town, county, local school, and state school tax. The Board has the option of using unassigned fund balance to help keep taxes down.
The Town Administrator reviewed the preliminary tax rate from the State and recommended that the Board use $81,000.00 of fund balance. This will allow the town to retain 6.98% which is within the 5% to 17% retention recommendations from the State of NH-DRA and gives a tax rate of $15.36/M.
Motion to use $81,000.00 of fund balance for the 2024 property taxes (Bowles/Dufresne). All in favor, motion carried.
The estimated tax rate is $15.36/M pending approval by the State of NH-DRA. Motion to approve the estimated 2024 tax rate of $15.36/M (Bowles/Dufresne). All in favor, motion carried.
