The Sharon Conservation Commission was established in accordance with RSA 36-A “for the proper utilization and protection of the natural resources and for the watershed resources of the town”. The Conservation Commission is the only local board specifically charged to protect the natural resources of Sharon
The commission may advise the planning board and other local bodies on conservation matters. It may act more directly to protect natural resources with approval of the selectmen and may manage conservation areas.
The commission is authorized to: recommend a program for the protection, development or better use of all areas; receive gifts of money or property, both real or personal, in the name of the town, subject to the approval of the town government, with such gifts to be managed by the commission. The commission can also help individuals with legal and survey expenses incurred as part of the Conservation Easement process.
