Responsibilities:

The Town of Sharon is governed by a Selectboard comprised of three elected board members.  Members of the Selectboard serve a three year-term and are staggered with one member elected each year.

The Selectboard serves the community as the town’s governing body. Under New Hampshire Revised Statute Annotated (RSA), Chapter 41 Choice and Duties of Town Officers; Selectmen; Section 41:8 in addition to a host of specific statutory duties, the Selectboard’s duty is to “manage the prudential affairs of the town and perform duties by law prescribed.”  Authority rests with the board acting as a whole.  All actions taken by the Selectboard must be voted on by a majority of the board at a public meeting that complies with the Right to Know Law (RSA Chapter 91-A).

The Selectboard oversee the annual deliberative session in which budgets, warrant articles and citizen petitions are discussed.  In an effort to maintain community relations, community involvement and to constantly improve opportunities for collaboration, each member of the Selectboard also serves as a Committee Representative on such committees as the Planning Board and Conservation Commission.
